...Timeless God?
A crack at the wiggly nut about time / Succession and duration. The Incarnation. Thinking... the process, God' feeling and moving. The Greco-Roman influence. All missed and much else... because done by two pm. / Accuracy and proclamations, within our capacity and control, MATTER (inside our-selves). / Yet to play beyond first few secs., the image source; https://rumble.com/v1r9yx8-covid-smear-artists-want-amnesty-for-their-lies.html
One of the perils of announcing to the world that you’ve found Jesus is that you find yourself deluged with Christians - some delightful, some a bit annoying - telling you how to do your job. This is because Christianity itself is a massive rabbit hole with adherents holding a multitude of differing views on what true faith entails. Some, for example, take a Trust The Plan approach, which seems to involve remaining in a state of divinely-approved ignorance. “Just focus on God and the rest will take care of itself!” they urge - and I concede that there is scriptural support for this way of thinking. But I am not one of those Christians - nor do I believe it is the path that God has chosen for me. Imagine how shit and boring my podcasts and writing would be if I did take that approach: “Nah, I’m not going to investigate that because it might divert my gaze from Heaven…”
Why I Entertain Crazy Conspiracy Theories, James Delingpole, 16 August 2022
Wrote would title, 'Farewell To The Timeless God'. Set up to compare with Mark Bailey's dismantle of Virology and A Farewell To Virology (Expert Edition). There are connections worth a mention while the aspect and 'to compete' as in Germ vs. Terrain and compare is problematic.
What am not, into? Cross-church group persuasion to reconsider a theology or church-way.
Nothing bugs s, in its dim indulgence and counter the Gospel and yet, it's all the internet rage.
The indoors and population' belittling for two years, set the heretic hunters for Jesus(?) on a frenzy. What business is it to warn fellow Christians who don't agree with what m'lot or theological thing? Get those an allegiance to the Orthodox (Russian or Greek) is their sub-mission to re-convert and the 'wrong church' to come their way. Expect we-the-remanent minded Reformed Evangelicals to bash about unto, seen as apostates, with the motive to protect the flock from straying into.
What a wonky parade? Exposes the lack of guts to go out to the streets and chat-up the '...lost'.
The two conspicuous happenings in the church in decades have been Food Banks, and Bethel or Upper Room filmed services. A couple of stand-out efforts which attract and convict many looking in from 'outside'.
The first gets a pass by the church, the second is the bane of anything likewise but... not. It's the closest to something of the same sort that carries the fiercest threat. If something is of a distance, it's dismissed and deplored but ignored. The one currency in the church is the congregation. All that matters becomes keeping the count and avoid any running away to, what's considered, competition.
To explain the context and big picture in thinking about God, requires historical context, which am too short of time to attempt. The differences and attempts to reconcile time -and- freedom is the underline of theology. So, be a lot of holes here and missing-pieces of a post.
Two previous goes on Truthscoop are Truth 1 and Open And Closed. On Plant a Seed there's loadsa shots but the search facility isn't easy to navigate and can't seem to re-find.
Unto the matter. First, why?
If the 'farewell' remark is for anyone to embrace, it's genuine Jesus-searchers stumbling on free-will or... not(?) and perceived, insubstantial explanations.
If we take genuine free-will as; the source of actions -and- an ability to do otherwise —God being 'outside' a linear reality called 'time' is a prob? For a start, the marking of passage, of said progressive succession of moments, isn't the issue. At the root it's what is God 'in'?
The 'out of nothing' (ex nihilo) classical belief is foundational and the assumption God..., made time(?). The never sorted and what was ...before God question is beyond any answer, and we all accept that. As with... before, said, Big Bang?
To argue God isn't constrained or present any more now, than yesterday or whatever's ahead is a 'rabbit hole'. What saith, and the quagmire?
Are the historical records in their fullest comprehension, revealing anything hidden with potential evidence -come- documentation, allowing for a rediscovery in understanding the formation of claims. The twists and turns that posits Classical, (and nowadays, Neo-Classical), Theology is the story to debate.
What does it suggest? Could it be there are influences and misreadings, that retrospective two-millennia reviewing... reveals?
Then..., there's the presentation of the Bible and if taken as 'timeless or time' and God; How is this explained and the face value reading?
The final leg and reason, after 'tradition' and 'scripture' is if it makes, philosophical sense, in particular noting inherent and internal contradictions? If God is incoherent and without a consistent explanation and character, why believe/ or want to?
God in 'time' brings up questions over unimaginable predict-ability and what difference would it be to having outside-time exhaustive foreknowledge? The other wonder is God's essential need to remember, recall or consider, every final and absolute piece of available information?
On this Holy One hotch-potch the above quicko through is as the blog name states: seeds.
Make our own mind up is the one and only option worth promoting. Let the truth out like a lion to roar, said Charles Spurgeon. Trust and be open (again(?)) and God-seeking, tell us as far/can/know?
Three directions interest me is the lack of open debate and brush-over time/God/in History/ etc.? Why, and what it says?
While talking 'God's judgement' upon the world affairs at a national or regional level is delivered without explanation, again —what's doing?
The final thang is how modern or contemporary Christendom deals with Calvinism/Arminianism and any differences pre-TV age?
There's been slow but steady growth in numbers of adherents who've shifted in their understanding to God being open not closed. Mostly those looking for new pastures and out of sorts with their traditional church meet-up and crew. Looking for fresh ways and find antidotes to credibility-lacking tones. Suspect though, camp lines are fairly firmly drawn up and, in some ways, that'll be that and mass swings.
From 'Open And Closed'.
'Virology ...say whaaat?' has caused the Truther scene, after the influx post-Brxit and C-19, to face a major repentance. The comments began to ask 'Germ or Terrain' and now certain outposts and commentators, have switched to ambiguity, come Terrain-believers. Could do with a whole lot more honest and admit to changed/testimony. While those troddin' on, loud and proud, for a 'Virus is real no theory' stand, —some even claiming a novel one, at that— are on their way to a crisis and inner clashes. Parallels and (at least) online have seen my observations on 'Open And Closed' get overturned. Not stating it thrills my soul to bash Calvinists and not from peep would be as troubled by a lot of their stuff. For a start, on C-19... try some talk about that one, brother?
Leave you to think through the trouble with talking 'God's judgement' and does that make for a problem/solution/reaction, with concerns and credibility, while suggesting non-sensical conundrums galore?
The Christians who lived a century or more ago; distinctive in their unusual inspiration and demonstration of love and power, came from a Classical Theological base but appeared not to behave in respects to its logical conclusions. As for today and Calvinism in particular taking its logical conclusions has a new brand and said breed and gone hyper (Calvinist).
All the talk of time is making me run from the demon-box and can feel the two-hour max. Resist and ....will flee from is the way to remain out of mental and more, capture and drainer. Positive God is here, was, and is to come. Not so bothered by extra-tight and right teaching. God wants 'action stations' and try and set that out on the next ....seed.
